Woodware Repetitions was originally incorporated on 14th February 1949 and was acquired by the Barnsley family in the 1970’s
Early in 2018, following the retirement of Mr Colin Barnsley, the business was taken over by the Mowbray Manufacturing Co Ltd and continues to trade from the original premises in Mowbray Street, Sheffield.
The business specialises in the manufacture of hand tool handles, including turning tool handles, file handles, chisel handles and knife handles, many of which are used by our associate company George Barnsley & Sons.
As well as the tool handle range we also make a wide range of turned products from furniture legs and components to dowels, ornamental products and architectural components.
We can accommodate production runs of multiple thousands (as the name suggests) or we can cater for bespoke hand turned items or small batch runs.
In 2019 in a bid to reducing our carbon footprint with less waste, as part of the upgrade of the factories extraction systems we created an additional system to recycle all the factories waste wood shavings and turn them into briquettes. These briquettes are used by local businesses to heat their premises.
As well as the addition of 'Munchie' (the factory pet name for the briquette machine) we have invested in several other machines in a effort to keep the factory working as efficiently as possible, in turn keeping costs as low as possible for the customer and the end user.
All wood used in the factory is sustainably sourced. We work with British Ash and Beech, along with importing Bubinga, Cherry, Rosewood, Walnut and Zebrano.
We also work with wood charities such as The ArBolivia project where farmers are paid to grow and maintain specific varieties of trees to prevent them from felling rainforests for money, below information can be found on this project
We also donate off cuts of wood to or local branch of Emmaus UK, this charity supports homeless and socially excluded people. They work to give people beds for the night and provide meaningful work with a sense of belonging.
